Since its launch in the late 1990s the Logic GDS salt spreader has proved to be an invaluable winter maintenance tool for many different customers in a huge variety of agriculture, industry and municipal sectors.

Through its specific design for the UK market, which primarily uses road/rock salt, it provides a reliable and efficient method of application. In short, as testified by many satisfied customers, it works!

The GDS Gritter uses a moving-floor conveyor system similar to highway sized salt spreaders and gritters to convey the salt to the spinning disc system. The hopper will hold 465 litres (550kg- 600kg depending on moisture content) of road/rock salt and is capable of spreading all types of material, including wet rock salt, grit and sand. A unique agitation system and conveyor floor ensures wet or dry material can be spread effectively and accurately by a spinning disc. Working speeds of up to 15mph and road speeds between sites of up to 30mph mean wide areas can be gritted quickly and efficiently.

The GDS Salt Spreader is built to withstand the harsh conditions which occur when using road/rock salt – the corrosive effects of salt can quickly bring equipment to a premature halt unless it has been designed to cope.
One of the major benefits of the GDS is that it can be towed behind any suitable towing vehicle, including  4x4s, pick-ups, UTVs or tractors.(For ATVs/quads see the GDS150 for a smaller capacity machine).This makes it  very quick to deploy at the first signs of bad weather and for winter gritting jobs it dramatically reduces the time needed to complete the task, when compared to the manual alternative of spreading salt or grit using shovels.

The GDS Salt Spreader has application rates of between 5 – 80 grams/sq metre.

Spreading widths are variable with speed (for example spreading widths, see table below) and the unit can cast the salt to the left or right meaning that it can spread salt underneath parked cars.

The GDS150 Gritter is the latest model in the Logic Ground Drive Salt Spreader range.

With its smaller capacity of 270litre (approx 335kg) it offers a suitable size machine for working behind smaller vehicles such as quads/ATVs, compact tractors, etc. but with the same unique design features and performance of other GDS models.

The PDS150D Salt Spreader is sized to fit onto the rear carrying platforms of UTVs. Its design provides a low filling height, a low centre of gravity and even distribution of weight throughout the spreading process which is important for vehicle stability. Mounting is enhanced by rubber pads under the chassis and integral ring mounts for tie down straps.

The PDS150T Compact Tractor Salt Spreader is hydraulically driven and sized to fit onto the three point linkage of compact and full size tractors. Its design provides a low filling height, a low centre of gravity and even distribution of weight throughout the spreading process which is important for vehicle stability.

Deck Mounted Powered Salt Spreader PDS354D

The Logic PDS (power drive spreader) Deck Mounted Salt Spreader range has all the same design features and benefits as the GDS range, but with additional features as follows:

An onboard 5.5hp petrol engine - this unit drives the rolling floor and gear box to the spreader disc.

An option of either a (high-speed) braked, fully suspended trailer unit or de-mount unit to fit into 4x4 pick-ups, flat bed transits, trailer, etc. These two options allow high speed travelling over longer distances between farms/sites/estates (up to 60mph - normal road speeds), so are ideal for contractor use or for use by organisations who need to cover multiple sites in one gritting or salt spreading session.

Either unit has a 585 litres capacity (675-750kg depending on moisture content) of road/rock salt. The PDS150F Forklift Salt Spreader is hydraulically driven and sized to fit onto the tines of a forklift or agricultural telehandler which means the farmer can utilise the existing farm machine. Its design provides a low filling height, a low centre of gravity and even distribution of weight throughout the spreading process which is important for vehicle stability. Mounting is via fork tine channels and the unit is secured with pins behind the tine uprights.

NOTE: Forklifts must have suitable auxiliary hydraulics for this machine to work. Minimum flow rate 25l/min.
